Smile while you shop

It has been scientifically proven that altruism is good for us. Not just that warm fuzzy feeling of doing a nice thing but an act of kindness - thinking of someone or a cause and intentionally doing something which takes us outside of ourselves to benefit others.

Smile

It has been scientifically proven that altruism is good for us. Not just that warm fuzzy feeling of doing a nice thing but an act of kindness - thinking of someone or a cause and intentionally doing something which takes us outside of ourselves to benefit others. Giving boosts our physical and emotional wellbeing. It’s also at the heart of the Christian faith: to love our neighbour and welcome the stranger. We are commanded to love one another freely, joyfully and generously with God’s help and guidance.

So we’re asking for an opportunity to make you feel much better and give to SPCK’s charitable work every time you shop with Amazon. What could be nicer than that?

About AmazonSmile
In their own words:
‘AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support a charity of your choice every time you shop, at no cost to you. AmazonSmile is available at smile.amazon.co.uk on your web browser and can be activated in the Amazon Shopping App for iOS and Android phones. When you shop AmazonSmile, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as amazon.co.uk, with the added bonus that AmazonSmile will donate a portion of the purchase price to your selected charity.

How do I shop at AmazonSmile?
To shop at AmazonSmile simply go to smile.amazon.co.uk on your web browser or activate AmazonSmile on your Amazon Shopping app on your iOS or Android phone (found under ‘settings’ on your app). On your browser, you may also want to add a bookmark to smile.amazon.co.uk to make it even easier to return and start your shopping at AmazonSmile. When you’re using the app, always check for the “AmazonSmile” logo to ensure you’re activated for AmazonSmile.’

That’s it: no need to create a new account if you already shop with Amazon, just select ‘The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge’ as your chosen charity, shop and you are supporting SPCK’s work to:
• Write, print and publish books for people in prison and at risk of offending - Diffusion
• Provide online resources for home schooling parents and teachers including thoughtful, fun and challenging assembly topics - Assemblies
• Work in partnership with pioneering publishers across African countries: publishing by Africans, in Africa, for African people everywhere – ATNP (African Theological Network Press)

If you’re really keen, please let others know as well – Amazon is an important bookseller of SPCK books, especially in lockdown when many of our smaller booksellers and shops cannot operate. Thank you.
